"Gekko" is the light of the moon.
The moon shining in the night sky has long been a favorite depiction in Japan. It has been used in paintings as well as in the decoration of samurai helmets and other artefacts.
GEKKO uses a gold leaf for the moon to create a more elegant and refined effect.
Concept:
The “GEKKO-Moon light” model was developed by Mr. Tsukasa Murayama. He has approximately 50years of building experience in NJS-KEIRIN* (his brand name is STRATOS) and has produced approximately 6,000 frames. He is renowned for his skills and ideas, as well as his unique frames, which are different from the typical NJS frames.
NJS-KEIRIN builders are approved by the Japan Autorace Foundation and are required to be highly skilled. They produce most of their frames for professional KEIRIN racers. It is difficult for the average enthusiast to obtain a brand-new frame. By implementing GEKKO, we envision that the general public can experience and own NJS frames to their satisfaction. GEKKO uses a frame with unique features made by Murayama.
Specifications:
The joints between the head-tube and down-tube as well as between the seat-tube and top-tube are triangular in shape instead of the usual circular arc.
The fin at the juncture of the top-tube and seat-tube is for durability as well as aesthetics. The seat stays are giga-tubes (Columbus Zona Al Shape), which are different from the usual cylindrical shape.
All are produced by silver brazing and combine high strength with structural appeal.
*NJS
The organization that administers and operates the “KEIRIN” bike race in Japan was formerly called “NJS.” Thus, NJS Workshop are authorized to make “KEIRIN Bikes (Track Bikes)” in Japan by (currently JKA).
